Schlieren, 01.08.2024 – Axians has once again consolidated its leading position in this year’s ISG (Information Service Group) benchmark “Cyber Security – Solutions and Services 2024”.
In particular, the IT and OT expertise as well as the synergies with the sister brand Actemium within the VINCI Energies network have contributed to this.

Today, industrial companies must increasingly secure automation technologies or AI (artificial intelligence) with OT security in order to avoid gateways for criminals – for example through identity and access management (IAM), micro-segmentation and IT/OT SOC services. OT environments are already a popular target for attacks and increasing networking is further increasing the attack vector. In 2023, a quarter of companies worldwide experienced at least one attack on OT environments. The importance of adapting the portfolio to new requirements such as NIS2 and the changing threat situation is demonstrated by Axians’ four-time leader position in the ISG ranking.

ISG Ranking 2024
An attractive product and service offering as well as a strong market and competitive position form the basis for the ISG assessment as a leader. Companies that are recognised as leaders are strategic trailblazers, opinion leaders in the market and stand for more than just innovative strength and stability. ISG evaluates companies on the basis of customer and sales figures, among other things, as these reflect their market significance. With regard to service providers, ISG took into account providers that are not exclusively focussed on proprietary products and solutions. In Switzerland, Axians was able to maintain its position as leader in the MSS – SOC segment.

“Axians has once again performed very well,” says Frank Heuer, Principal Analyst at ISG. “As in the previous year, Axians was able to maintain its position as multiple leader in Switzerland and Germany. The decision to evaluate managed security services not only in general, but also in the midmarket and large accounts segments, shows how important the topic of SOC has become in recent years and the significance of OT security today.”

Managed Security Services – SOC
As in the previous year, Axians is also one of the leaders in the MSS – SOC quadrant in Switzerland. This means that the company’s products and services fulfil customer requirements to an above-average degree. The Managed Security Service SOC segment comprises companies that offer services in connection with the permanent monitoring of IT and OT security infrastructures and the management of the IT infrastructure by a Security Operations Centre (SOC). Axians has several SOC locations internationally. This is interesting both for national SMEs that value data processing in Germany and for international SMEs. The interdisciplinary collaboration with sister brand Actemium and its many years of experience in automation technology and the process industry also enables customers to benefit from customised, flexible solutions and modular services for the industrial environment – because complete solutions are not an option for companies of all sizes. It comprises products and services to ensure corporate security, including innovative technologies such as Extended Detection and Response (XDR) or the implementation of Privileged Access Management (PAM) products & ITDR in IT and OT.

Strategic Security Services
Companies in the Strategic Security Services sector offer IT and OT security consulting. This includes: Security audits, compliance and risk consulting, security assessments, security solution consulting and awareness training. They help to assess security maturity and the risk situation and to define cyber security strategies for companies based on their specific requirements.
Axians is also continuing to expand its portfolio of strategic security services this year. Particular specialisations include penetration testing and incident response services as well as consulting on new guidelines such as NIS2 and DORA. Axians also provides support in minimising risks in cloud computing – whether private, public or hybrid cloud.
In line with the motto “Keep IT simple and secure”, Axians takes the approach of making cyber security easy to implement and integrate into existing structures. In OT environments in particular, it is important not to disrupt production and to avoid additional work for staff.

Technical Security Services
Companies in the Technical Security Services sector comprise service providers that cover the integration, maintenance and support of IT and OT security products or solutions. These include all security products from EDR, XDR, NDR and MDR to cloud and data centre security, OT security, SASE and compliance and regulatory solutions. Axians has significantly expanded its consulting portfolio together with Actemium since the previous year and is targeting medium-sized companies in particular with cost-optimised solutions. One example of this is the joint OT SaaS campaign, which is the focus this year.

Cyber security services – you can’t do without them
The ICT service provider supports medium-sized and large customers with Managed Security Services (MSS) to arm themselves against the growing threat from criminals. Due to the shortage of skilled labour and the complexity of attacks, it is becoming increasingly difficult for companies to operate their own cyber security. Axians has experience from numerous customer projects and incorporates this into customised solutions. The company is also a partner of the Alliance for Cyber Security, a co-operation network in the fight against cybercrime.

Urs Röthlisberger, Managing Director of Axians and Actemium Switzerland, is delighted with the renewed top ranking: “The importance of SOCs has risen continuously in recent years. Our international SOC for IT and OT in Basel has made a decisive contribution to being recognised as a leader in the area of Managed Security Services – SOC. This confirms our expertise in the area of cyber security and shows that we can also offer a broad spectrum of solutions for the needs of our industrial customers with our focus on OT.”
